Mayweather Sets Crosshairs on Pacquiao

MANILA, Philippines – Returning former pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr. has set his sights on Manny Pacquiao, a boxing website reported today.

Boxingscene.com’s Luis Sandoval quoted Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, as saying that the flamboyant Mayweather has Pacquiao on his hit list — which also includes welterweight stars Shane Mosley and Miguel Cotto.

“Yes he has a hit list. The same thing with [Juan Manuel] Marquez. Both guys want to fight the best. Mayweather, should he win that fight [against Marquez], he wants to go on and [continue to] fight. There is Pacquiao on the list, there is Shane Mosley on the list, there is potentially a Miguel Cotto on the list and maybe somebody like Victor Ortiz,” Schafaer told boxingscene.com.

The undefeated Mayweather (39-0, 25 KOs) is slated to face Marquez on July 18 in his first fight since knocking out Ricky Hatton in December 2007.

Pacquiao, meanwhile, is also reportedly eyeing a bout with the winner of the Mayweather-Marquez fight.
